Apoptosis

She calls it inner Progeria and says it's better
this way because no one can tell when they look.
She struggles to become unremarkable
but one look in her eyes and anyone can see
that she has never been normal.


She says it is inside  and no one
should know that her organs are scarred,
her actin are slow,
her DNA is denatured to the point of apoptosis.
She says it is inside of her and no one should have toknow know
so she wears sunglasses, tints
her soul, proclaims she is able
to live a normal life and sets out to master
the endeavor of being ordinary.

but she is constantly failing
to necrosis of her soul. the past is never ending
and nearly immediately, she feels that she is again dying--
these fragments of oblivian are staccato heartbeats, end rapidly
each time she once again recalls that she is sick.

She calls it metaphorical stage three cancer
and claims that it is poetically killing her.
